hI YALL,

I was just wondring - i just accquried a nice little head unit for my FTO.
a clarion 50x4 cd/mp3 player, i had it installed yesterday. However i kept the speakers that where already in the car from the previous owner - a pair of 6x9 kicker speakers...

and really im not happy with the sound.

So me thinking it was due to these Kicker speakers i conneced my old clarion head unit to these new speakers (a 45x 4 W) same model just older.
This sounded so much better!!!!!

Is my head unit crap?? Im so confusd!!

please any thoughts....

thanx

Check the terminals and wiring on the speakers for polarity. Some use the big terminal for positive, some don't. Also some use the stripe on the wire for negative but some don't. The deck and the speakers might be different and the last guy just matched the stripes on the wires.

Sorry thats all I got. Unless of course your new deck is rated Peak Music Power Output (or PMPO, peak output) and your old deck was rated Root mean Squared (RMS or average output). This would mean your new deck would be at full power where your old one was running average. Just a thought.

Actually I should have started with: How is the sound not as good?
Loudness, clarity, feed back, vibration or what?
