hey,
just wanna find out if anyone has had the K&N rampod kit fitted into their FTO's by RPW, and whether they do a good job. any noticeable difference over the standard box filter?

as far as I can tell there is nothing to it.. all you need to do is make a few brackets and add the pod to the end of the air intake when you take off the air box.. I have not seen nor have a RPW version so cannot say anything good nor bad about them.. but I would have thought that there was no need for any extra piping etc

so anyone had one done by RPW? i know its not hard to install one, but just curious if having the pod right up at the front does anything special...

if you mean right out the front as in like out in the bumper area away from the engine bay or just at the front of the engine bay??

if it goes where the stock airbox usually is then there will be bugger all difference really and there may be a slight increase if it is out of the engine bay due to less heat etc..

I got the RPW mod done about 2 years ago, the filter got too dirty too quickly mounted in front of the radiator so I re-mounted it back in the engine bay off the standard airbox connector. No real noticable difference to power output, just better sound.. You can pick up a k&n pod from go gear racing services in ossie park for about $115 and make up ur own bracket for free much cheaper and more effective due to less piping from filter to throttle body. Keep the standard airbox cold air intake there for, well cold air intake

i got the induction pipe for sale minus the filter

nothing like an entrepeur .. I uses my piping for some cold air induction so its in bits

I was quoted $275 for a K&N Pod Filter installed into my fto.
The price included the pod filter and some sort of adapter to fit it onto the fto. He said that there were no adapters available to hold the filter in place so thats why its $275.

Is he ripping me off? Can't i just get a POD filter for around $120 and some bracket to hold it on? By the way, its an FTO GX.

I think RPW are starting to pull some prices out of their rectum's. they quoted me $266... just do what Mark said and get it the filter from osbourne park. Btw Mark, do you do filter installations how much do u charge

Do you reckon it's time to post up those torque curve graphs from our "FTO Filter Test" last year?

...before anyone else goes and buys that exact same K&N?


Basically folks, we swapped a particular K&N pod filter on and off two FTOs (Mark's and mine), and did a road dyno sample using each one. The after-market lost power across the entire rev range when compared against the stock induction system. So be careful out there... it may sound faster but may actually be slower!

If you are going to get a POD filter, spend the extra cash and get a nice stainless steel induction pipe made up. I believe this is whats causing my POD to give less power than the airbox+k&n panel.
