Hi,
I would like to get a pod filter for the performance gain and sound.
However, i've heard that just getting a pod will slow the car down as it sucks in hot air. A cold air induction kit is needed.
Is this just some tubing from the front of the bumper going to the pod to feed it some cold air?
What other ways are there that will give it cold air? Could i get an intercooler just to get cold air since i will be getting a turbo at a later stage anyways?
I'm sure many of you have pod filters... how is it setup to get cold air? |

Not me! 
Marke and I fooled around putting a K&N pod on and off my FTO, and running road dyno torque curve sampling to compare. The K&N resulted in lower torque across the entire rev range.
Having said that, (1) no cold air induction, and (2) the filter in question needed an adaptor, which if memory serves reduced the intake piping diameter slightly.
But it's worth noting from this exercise that slapping on a pod doesn't necessarily get you a quicker car... as you so rightly noted!

I wouldnt get 1....
I have aK&N replacement panel filter on my car and when I do my next service I will be going back to a standard paper filter...
check out these links and have a read about what these guys have done with the diff air filters etc... will prolly change a lot of ppls minds!!
