Just fitted my new r-spec Toyo R1R rubber in readiness for some driving fun at MC's tomorrow (don't panic - the FTO MC day isn't until Oct 19, hehe).
After setting the tyre pressures and having a short drive around the back blocks, I can definitely say they are nothing at all like my street Toyos (Proxes T1-s).
For a start, and there's just no other way to describe this... they sing! I'd expected them to be noisy like a set of those old Pirelli Dragos were - a rough, dull roar kinda noisy. But no, they resonate and hum, with harmonics coming from every corner of the car! Bizarre...
...and the sound under braking is unbelievable. Good thing I took the stereo out - I couldn't have heard a damn thing over the tyre sounds anyway!
I'll check back in tomorrow with some impressions of how they handle. Can't wait!
- Rich
PS. Pete, am I making you want to pop out and buy a set too? Hope so... |

I found mine were silent till I hit about 50-60kms and then they hum.... then go away a little till you hit 70-80kms...
I put up with them for a year!
and I couldnt take em anymore!
However the ones I have now a real quiet and... well they just dont compare to grip like my old ones er.. the trade off!! |
