|
|
Hi, I have some questions regarding carbon fibre.
I would like to have some light weight body parts(bonnet n bootlid).
Carbon fibre as we all know is polished and shiny.
I would like the weight savings but do not want the weave printed patterns to show, but painting on top of this shiny surface would leave the paintwork undesirable.
Q: Is the carbon fibre pressed into the mould to make the shape before the shiny finish is processed?
If this is the case, after the shaping is done, can i choose not to have the polish process, than proceed to paint it with all the primer n stuff, will the paint look gd?
Any advice apprecitated!
Cheers! |

Just a wild guess, but maybe it had a rear-facing vent in it... Vlad wasn't able to get his FTO across the pits with one of those. Something about the fact that any engine fluid leak at speed would come straight out and land on the windscreen!

unfortunateley ye it is illegal but light as a feather!!!
i'll tell you a story, i got pulled over by cops (breather-liser test) then the cops inspected me, to cut the story short, i got a yellow sticker for the spoiler and wait for it............tv
going tommorow to rectify it.
ps ive taken the gt wing off and have the black bonnet on. Looks.......different now |

cf is not always shiny.. i'm guessing its a coat or a buff or something
either that or a slightly different method of curing the cf
fg could be the alternative as others said, but strengthwise cf is better. I can't imagine if a pebble or something hit the fg bonnet at fwy speed (100). would it crack or anything?
another alt is an alu bonnet :p
not as light as fg or cf but stronger than fg
im not sure if cf bonnets are _entirely_ illegal. isn't one of the hyped up HSV's or FPV's using them? could be that new DJR falcon |

I've heard that DJR, HSV and FPV use alu instead of cf, but an fg on the fwy is bad!
What the hell did I just say?

u just said:
MIC?
KEY?
MOU?
SE.
hmm anyway.. u sure all of them use the alu bonnet? i was pretty certain one of them had a cf bonnet.. maybe it was that 427 which never came out (hence IMO its bathurst results nullified). i'll try and find the article again (maybe). |
