Description:

The following vehicle will be sold at auction in Japan on Sunday 16th March 2003. Start price is 850,000 yen FOB, expected sale price is somewhere around the 1,100,000 yen FOB mark although it is very unpredictable and could be cheaper. The total cost in Australia at this price is estimated to be $25,300 plus tyres, Govt. stamp duty and registration (normal licensing costs for any vehicle). Shipping, import duties, GST, compliance and our service fee are all included in the estimate. There are bound to be some additional costs in compliance due to the extensive modifications, these will only be known following arrival and will depend on which State the vehicle is sent to.

Here is something that is extremely rare to find, an FTO with an EVO engine conversion. 314 ps power output is claimed by the owner. Based on shipping schedules there should just be sufficient time to import this vehicle under the old import scheme, but you will need to contact us immediately so that shipping can be pre-booked. It is also suitable as a race / rally import in which case it would be about $2,500 cheaper (compliance not required).

Imagine the costs of building this vehicle in Australia. The owner claims he has spent over 4 million yen ($56,300) on the conversion.

would be nice but would wanna get in quick there is no way that will be able to come in under the new import scheme and the old 1 really finishes in the next couple of days!!

When did Prestige Motorsport first put this up?

As far as I am concerned, they are one of the few import businesses with a good reputation. Don't know why they would go near this (admittedly very interesting) vehicle!

Their main web page says at the top...

"If you are planning to import your own vehicle, there are some SERIOUS changes, try to import by February 2003"

and...

"Given the process and timeframe of importation and compliance, to be safe, the last date you would want to import a vehicle from Japan using an Import Approval under the old scheme is about 8 weeks prior to the end of the scheme. This gives a date of about the end of February 2003. "

Maybe the shipping/compliance pipeline isn't as blocked up as they expected.

It would be a very interesting car to drive on the track on weekends! Not really sure how it would go on wet roads, with 314kW through a FWD drivetrain. Shocked

You'd need to be pretty gentle with the loud pedal, eh!

hehe... I'm on their mailing list... so I usually get an update on what cars they have for the upcoming auction...

Aparently they say the deadline under the old import scheme is middle of May 03..... No?

How I wish I'm looking for an FTO now... hehe Razz

PS. on a related note, my car is booked in for its panel work on 24th March and i should have it back by 28th... so ill have a nice freshly painted (part of) car for the 30th lunch!

the old import scheme is basically over.. last ship for it is the end of this month.. prestige has a good name coz you know exactly what you are buying and they only make $1000 of each car and help you with the private import process. to get any good value out of imports these days tho the cars NEEDS to be modified or you may as well go and buy it from a dealer.
