I went for a drive yesterday and the road was a bit damp, since i have LSD and my tyres are hopeless it kept on wheel spinning (not my fault-seriously).

Now everytime the car is revving at between 2-3rpm there is no power going to the wheels, the car just revvs. Above that and below that, it's fine.

Any help would be most appreciated.

ouch that doesn't sound promising, unfortunately I don't have a clue about how LSD;s work so i can't give any advice. Sounds like it may be something you will need to take it to a transmission place to have a look at.. will be expensive though, even for them just to have a look at it. Sad

wonder if it could be something to do with the gearbox input shaft and how it connects to the gearbox itsself? Again, another expensive thing to get looked at.

I can't offer any suggestions at all, I'm afraid! Sounds very dodgy...

Went to RPW yesterday and got told it was the clutch!!

I wanted to get both the clucth and flywheel done at the same time, might aswell since they are going to remove the gearbox anyway.

The chutch will cost around 1k (same as my current clutch but easier to use) the flywheel will be around 600.

I'm leaving my car in the garage and then doing a couple of things at once eg clucth, flywheel, airfilter and so on:P

Don't forget to ring around and get a second opinion and price. Good practice for anything really! Smile

I know that I enquired about my clutch just this week and it came in well under a grand. It had been quite choppy when cold since the drags (but is smoothing out again slowly), so was just after an idea of the work involved.

nah, i will. The super heavy clutch is around a grand, which is the same as mine now. I'm deffientely shopping around though, but i want both the flywheel and clucth done at the same time.

Dunno if you've got it done yet but...
The heavy semi-ceramic clutch that RPW do is pretty tricky to drive even if you are quite a good driver. It took me some time to get used to. I would not reccommend it if other people drive your car, eg a girlfriend or maybe mum.....

On the other hand it is tuff as nuts and takes a hammering, didn't think it was worth that much though. Maybe you should come for a spin in mine first...

It's funny... My clutch is coming on 9 years old. Standard clutch. It's withstood me relearning how to drive a manual since mid-2000, two years of obsessive MC Motorsport use (probably once every 3 weeks on average), plus a wee bit of Quit Motorplex.

I've never had it slip once. Still driving. Smile

When I eventually get mine replaced, it'll be with exactly the same part! Can't fault it.

After all, it's only 161bhp atw! Wink

I've had the RPW clutch about a week now. first 2 days it was pretty tight and very hard to drive, now its exactly as smooth as the original but with monster bite. only deal is a little shudder at slow speeds , reversing etc.

yea the clutch took a bit of wearing in, and it is not as difficult to drive as when new but the girlfriend still complains about it.
The shuddering is a bit tricky to get used to and the friction point seems a long way out. IT IS DEFINATELY HEAVIER ON THE FOOT THOUGH.
