Hi, thought I'd just pop in to say hello. I'm a member of the FTOOC UK, but I thought I would pop in every now and again to see what's up on the opposite side of the world

Hi there Zan,
How active is this forum then? Does much go on?
How would you rate it against the UK version?
I have been over to your side of Austrailia back in 91. I spent 3 months in Perth workin at a company called Defu Metal.
king loved it there, wish we could go back and spend a bit more time with some money this time.
Oh we had a Holden HQ  6 Cyl Estate thing, we had to rebuid the engine before we went on our way down South to the gold mining towns, then back up North to Darwin. I reaaly enjoyed that. My (now wife) and i ran outta money in Darwin though, and had to come home.
Are the FTOs fairly common over there being a bit closer to there origiin and all that? Or are they a bit rare on the streets.

heya,
I used to frequent the UK forum a few years back. I don't think this forum is as busy as that one. It would be close to dead if it wasn't for some regular posters (Rich)
Kinda gets busy when we organise cruises / motorsport events though.
An HQ Holden  ... I don't know my Holdens but that sounds like a real old one.
FTO's are still fairly rare-ish on the streets. I take a 30-40 min drive into town for work every day and do a fair bit of driving on the weekend... I'd probably see 0-3 FTO's a week. Most people like to buy the imported Nissans... you see a couple of Skylines every day. But as prices come down I guess FTO's will become more common.  |

Yep, as Zan said, it's pretty quiet on here! The separate www.ftoaustralia.com forum is very chatty, whereas people often only post on here when there's a Perth-based event, they've got a car problem or are looking for something very specific.
It's just good to have it as a resource for West Aussie FTO owners, so they don't get ripped off, misled, stranded, etc.
So if it's quiet, it just means nobody's lost a drivebelt, smashed a hub (Leigh ) or got it strife!! Which is good news, hehe.
