Hiya.

You know I how I was looking for a 2nd hand high end Clarion head unit?

Well, first question is - do you know if the CeNET stylee head units that can drive the piggyback DSP (which I now own ) have internal amplification, or are they line out only?

...and I get the fact that you need to supply line out (or digital) to the DSP, then line out from that to amp(s).

Second question...

If that type of head unit does have an internal amp, does it mess up the sound driving front splits through the "nice" stuff (line out to DSP, time correction, etc. then amp) but the rear fill just crappy direct head unit speaker output? You know, just loud enough to provide a presence, but no fancy time correction, amplified grunt or whatever...

I'm just trying to plan whether to use an existing 4 channel amp to drive the rear fill plus one sub, or use it to drive two subs (and thereby leave the rears driven direct by the head unit).

Any thoughts?

ok well it will have normal speaker outs.. the only 1s that dont from memory are the new HX-D2 and the old school 9255

as for rear filll why bother... if you are after sound quality you wouldnt have any..!! so you can fade directly to the front for normal driving.. and if you happen to have more than 2 ppl in the car you could fade it to the back slightly so that they have some sound! especially since you are going to have subs and that the rears are well 6xp evil things..
