On my FTO I run 17x8 all around with 235 tyres and I get rubbing on full lock, and had to trim away a lot of plastic from the inner arch guard.

On the rear, there is about 2mm clearance between the inside of the tyre and the body of the car, Ie, its the max you can fit.

So, 17x8.5 on the rear would most likely rub on the rear, so you would probably have to go for 225 tyres, or alternatively use spacers.

I have heard that 225 tyres on an 17x8 rim on the front also reduces rubbing of the guards by quite a bit.

What size tyres were you thinking of going with?

One of the lads over here is running on 19's and quite a few are on 18's I think they have gone for 7.5" or 8" wide though.
