I am thinking about getting an fto but i hear for other people that in Australia you can only get third party insurance on it becuase it is an import and that companys will not take for imported parts. Is this true??

Nope. Not true. Unless it's a driver-age related thing.

Ring a few insurers and get the facts straight from them...

RAC will only insure it as third party yeh.

Mine is insured with Just Cars and is only slightly more than what I was paying RAC for my previous car (a celica) even though the FT0 is worth more. I wish Id found them sooner!

Or if you're lazy like me just go to a broker and let them do the work. Smile

lots of brokers can get u an insurance company that will take up a policy with u, or just goto just cars insurance, they are pretty good. However if ur car is too modified they will still not insure u, regardless of what u hear about them being open to anyone with any car...

i once got turned down from then cause the rims on my car was worth over $3000...they will not even access my policy after that...

just a rough estimate, what are the average age of FTO drivers here? and the price they pay annually for the premiums?...

I'm 36. Fully comp insurance with HBF, full ncb, insured for agreed value somewhere around 25k (car's worth probably half that now!). Costs me about $880 per year.

Phoenix Insurance Brokers got me insurance through SGIO. I think it's about $900/yr.

I'm 36, I like tanning salons, cycling, nude windsurfing, romance novels and playing dodgeball with my pet rabbit Mr Wifflewhiskers.
