Question:
are gearboxs on a gpx ment to be whisper quiet ? or are they a little noisey low down in the revs?
also what gearbox oil should be used?
does anyone know where to get redline oils from?

They are definitely a little noisy in the low revs! It's not just yours. They make a soft grinding noise when under throttle with very low rpm... gear overrun noise, I heard it called. Nothing serious.

They also get rattly clutch springs. This makes a noise some people attribute to a worn bearing, but it ain't. That occurs in neutral, with the clutch out. When you put the clutch in, it disappears.

As for oil, Mal Crockenberg has been filling mine with a particular gearbox oil for 5 years. It isn't Redline, and isn't expensive, but I can't recall the type - I have it written down at home. It does a brilliant job of making the gearchanges smooth. The only thing we're doing lately is dropping in an LSD additive, on account of, er, the LSD. Wink

Do the fto 's have a LSD? thought it was only the type R that had em? you probably know more than me though.
where do you get your plugs (GPX)from as i got told i would have to order them?

No, you're dead right about LSDs and FTOs. I just went and got an EVO III LSD installed! Smile

I've never ordered FTO plugs in my life, I'm afraid. Always got it done by a garage as part of a combination of maintenance jobs.

I found the notes about the oil used in my GPX for the past 5 years. It was "Mobil Agri Fluid 424".
