It is indeed. This is "limp home mode". The transmission has some kind of fault.
Here's some great info, in the UK FTO Owners Club forum's "Grease Monkey" section...

Have you actually been told by a reputable garage that you need a new tip box?

First off, follow the "ECU code" extraction instructions (see new 'sticky' in this forum's "General" section). Getting that info will be good for your "Bullsh*t Sensor" when talking to any garage about the problem.
Crockenberg Motors would be my recommendation for getting an honest opinion on the requisite course of action. Mal Crockenberg knows FTOs very well. Welshpool - 9358 0302. I don't know if he's keen on opening up those transmissions though.
Any Mitsubishi dealer will be familiar with the INVECS-II tip box these days (they are using them in Magnas, etc.).
So... don't assume you need to spend thousands of bucks just yet. It could simply be a sensor that's failed.
Good luck!

RPW has a 2nd hand low km auto FTO box - not sure if its a triptronic or normal auto but if you drop buy we can check your box against the one we have and if it is the same then I am sure we can do a deal. _________________ RPW Mitsubishi Performance Specialists soon to be releasign twin turbo systems for Magna and FTO vehicles. |
