Uh.... Wen I turn off my car it gets stuck inbetween accessory and off sometimes..... Sometimes if I put it out of park and back in it comes out... sometimes it does not and Ive had to call RAC as I cant get the damn car to turn off and cough up my keys. It only does it on and off and no one seems to be able to pinpoint why. Anyone got any ideas or experienced similar problems ever? |

Apparently on tiptronics there is a cable running from the gear selector to the ignition switch. It's desiged as some kind of safety feature, so you can't switch off and remove keys while driving. Or something.
Unfortunately, once something in the cable assembly wears a bit, it starts sticking. Then, even if you ARE in park, you can't get the key out.
There's a thread on this in the UK FTOOC "Greasemonkey" section...

Hope this helps.

PS. Mitsy Magnas are even more annoying... my wife's car won't let me out of PARK unless my foot is on the brake. Argh... |

I've had the exact same thing happen to me. The cable that Rich describes is usually the culprit.
If you take the housing off you may well find that a small piece of the surround has broken off and jammed the cable from releasing. It's quite common apparently. I think that UK thread describes it pretty well but if you can't sort it give me a shout and I'll describe it in more detail. |
