Getting from corner of Anketel to Competitors registration.........Never made it !

She died...Had to get it towed home

Still waiting for Skippers ( under warranty) to determine whats happened to her. IT just won't start any more, either no fuel getting in or no ignition.

Thanks to Graeme and Rich for helping out......

Hopefully if theres a next time, i'll be there...

Speaking of reaction time, I noticed a disparity between the UK Santa Pod regulations and the Motorplex system. So I just emailed them this query:

...to which I received the following reply:



Very observant...actually Europe is now out of step.

Reaction times the world over have always been 0.400 (the difference between the last amber and the green).

Last year the US went to 0.000 reaction times. It is certainly a lot easier to explain to new spectators than why 0.400 good...0.399 bad

So we changed our system to 0.000 reaction times at the start of the season to follow the US trend...the first track in Australia to do so. The new Western Sydney International Dragway (a bigger version of Kwinana) opens next month and their system is also 0.000 RTs.

So 0.000 is perfect (like the old 0.400), 0.001 is pretty damn good...while -0.001 is bad (the old 0.399). You would note the read out boards have negatives for red lights ie: -.039

Further clarification from him - only the "displayed" reaction time is different. They simply subtract 0.400 from it. So as far as ET goes, we're comparing apples with apples. An ET of 14.83 with an Aussie (or US) reaction time of 0.050 is identical to an ET of 14.83 with a UK reaction time of 0.450 . 'nuff said.

Yes that was me ellusion !!!

I did see your white FTO drive past, how long before you lose the 'P' plates?

First feed back from Skippers is that my timing chain chrunched a few teeth. Now i know why they call it a timing chain, because it was really good "TIMING" when the chain broke

Dissapointing about Vlad's times, was that a girl driving his car as he got to Motorplex, i saw something pull in as i was getting towed away. OR did i just put my foot in it , is Vlad a girl.....

No, I don't think that was Vlad's car. He definitely arrived after you'd got towed away.

As for disappointing... I found it damn near impossible to adjust quickly to having a helmet on and the windows up. Felt totally divorced from the car. It's going to take a lot of getting used to. Maybe that's the reason people like loud exhausts - so they can hear what the hell their engine is doing at the starting line!!!!

great day...........except for my times

I'm having a overhaul of my car eg. having a service, getting the suspension right, lowering it, getting the gt wing off and most importantly, getting those crappy tyres changed

The people involved are amazing because they were really friendly, gave u a lot of tips, made sure there was no accidents and most of all, they made sure you had fun

Nothing wrong with those times! See above for reaction time explanation. Getting that car moving half a second earlier will still be 'legal' and well see that time come down to sub-15. Watch out, Leigh... we're comin' for ya!

Yeh only one and half weeks to go before i'm off my P's... Finally, i'll be a "real" driver hehe....

Reaction time doesnt effect your actual run time down the 1/4 mile, the time recording is only started when you break the line, so you can sit there for a little while before leaving and your time will still be the same.
