Hi every one! i would really like to bother you guys a bit for some info!
I am looking at a black one in syd (i live in canberra)
http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsales/!cs_content.private_vehicle?vehicle_id=110939¤t_rec=2&total_rec=12&sort_type=&make_id=3&model_id=421&state_id=2&search_distance=25
I have spent a while tracing down a decent manuel (as far as i can tell with my limited knowlege)
is this a good price?
its just had its 100k service (cam belt?)
when i test drove it, the clutch only really wanted to work at the top end? i think this means it needs a new clutch soon??
how can i check for the common warped front discs?
anything else i should check!?
sorry to be a noob pain and all ! but i am only 21 and basicly on my own getting a car! so i would really like some help!
btw for those turboing their fto's
check out www.autospeed.com.au and search fto
theirs an article on one with a hk kit, costs 10k complete works well. |

Hiya!
Wanted to reply earlier, but just been SOOOO busy at work!
But here goes...
> when i test drove it, the clutch only really wanted to work
> at the top end? i think this means it needs a new clutch soon??
Mine does that. It's a nine-year old car that's done some motorkhana, so I'm planning on a new clutch this year, hehe. The FTO has a hydraulic clutch linkage, which is apparently not something you generally need to "adjust". So a clutch may be something on your "to-do" list for this car, yes. But mine just keeps going and going and going....
> how can i check for the common warped front discs?
Shouldn't be an issue anyway. Front rotors are pretty cheap - that's if the existing ones are so thin that you can't machine them back to being nice again.
> anything else i should check!?
Just get a full mechanical check! Worth the cost and hassle, given what's riding on it (ie. you and yours! hehe).
Have fun car shopping. There's nothing quite like it, hehe. All that choice......
