I spent last night and most of today replacing the old, messy cheapo battery with a nice new Odyssey 800. 
It's lighter and smaller, and sits in the back part of the battery tray. It's so much lower that I can run a different induction pipe right over the top, so I have complete freedom to get a smooth 90-degree turn into the throttle body. Maybe a project for next month - after waving a battery around my back's about ready to break!
It took quite a bit of effort to redesign the clamps, cables, etc. In order to really hold it in well I had to put a brace on the tray at the bottom front, and fit different tie-down bolts in new holes. The terminal polarity was also around the other way (if I wanted the +ve terminal well away from the chassis), so it definitely wasn't a straight 'remove and replace' job.
I also got picky, and cleaned the grotty tray. No more battery acid muck! All rust treated and freshly painted. 
I'll get a piccy to post up. Coz it's all so purdy. Big improvement on what was there before!
