RPW is now producing a lot of FTO performance parts which are being exported around the world.
Additionally we are also organisng a group purchase discounted price with the Australian FTO group as well which would be of interest to everyone.
Current products include
RPW Oversize throttle Bodies
FSE Fuel pressure regulator kits
RPW 3-1 tuned length racing extractors
camshafts and valve springs
Quickshifter assemblies
Current projects underway at this time
6A13 2.5 litre with Mivec heads and piston conversion engines
Twin turbocharger kits for the 6A12 / 6113 engines
If anyone is interested in anything ask away as I will check for questions in the future.
As well would be great to see some FTO join us on the 15th March at the 4, 6 and rotaries drag event.

DAve,
You guys did my oversize throttle body and manifold (to 64mm) about 18 months - 2 years ago now. Just curious, at that time did you also add a new oversized butterfly to the throttle body? If not, hasn't that now become a bottle neck, or is the butterlfly larger to begin with?
Regards,
Mark |

Hi Dave@RPW.
I don't know if you remember, but I dropped in to your workshop shortly before you got your first set of FTO extractors completed, and offered to run performance tests on them.
This was using a "home dyno" digital data capture and analysis system - I brought some sample graphs in, if you recall. You can see some articles on this setup in the 'Workshop' section of www.ftowa.com
I'm still happy to assist if you have a stock FTO that can provide a "before" and "after" example when the extractors are fitted. We could post up an article showing the results.

When ever we do a throttle body we always fit a new butterfly to the larger bore size otherwise it would not idle at a low enough rpm level.
Therefore tehre is no bottle neck there.
The one thing we found no teh FTO vehicle that was it developed major LOSS of horsepowe when ftting either a throttle body or extractors if you DID NOT fit any fuel mods with it at the same time. The reason being the car leaned out too much. Fitment of a FPR unit is mroe than enough to fix this problem.
We have just sent over 15 sets of extractors to the UK for the FTO so I imagine we should be getting word back from them very soon on how they thought they went.
Thanks for the replies everyone good to know there are people in WA with these vehicles.
Don't forget the 4, 6 and rotaries drag even on teh 15th March would be nice to see everyone down there. _________________ RPW Mitsubishi Performance Specialists soon to be releasign twin turbo systems for Magna and FTO vehicles. |

NOne at this moment - we have not received any orders from anyone for extractors which is very disapointing. IT simply means anyone who wants a set is going to have to pay normal retail prices.

dude,
If I go 6-pak throttle-bodies, Unifilter Rampod, and 3-1 extractors into a 2.5" system, will the aftermarket Link Plus computer drive all that stuff?
Also, I WILL need an FPR, right?
And also, how does it affect the variable inlet manifold on the V6? Do you replace it, or do the throttle-bodies come in before/after the inlet manifold?

P.S. The V6 looks swish in the Mirage! |

|
|
Our newer designed systems now fit the six pack assembly by removing the stock plenum chamber and fitting it there so this means the variable intake runners would remain and be able to work which would be great as this would help remove the low down loss of torque from running large air flow throught he six pack as well.
The links plus of Haltech woudl be able to run everything yes.
Yes you would need a FPR unit as well. _________________ RPW Mitsubishi Performance Specialists soon to be releasign twin turbo systems for Magna and FTO vehicles. |

Thanks Dave.
I will see how I go with the MiVEC stuffs on the 'Rage. Then I'll see about the throttle body and the extractors.

I know RPW are doing this to 63mm but someone here mentioned a 64mm (Marke) was this a bore out of the standard 60mm body? or is it really 63mm?
What manufaturer and model number is the Fuel pressure riser that is required to go with this modification and what is the expected bhp increase and or effect on top end?
I will get the boring and honing done at a UK engineering shop but where to get the fuel pressure thingy - any distributors of RPW in the UK.
Thanks

RPW did my 64mm throttle body (or so they told me).
Im not using a FPR, i dont think its necessary, we're not running high horsepower here and the FTO's stock one has PLENTY of range. I've been told this from numerous very reputable garages and independants.

The throttle bodies can be machined out to eitehr 63 or 64mm depending upon the thickness of the core we are working with. Sicne they are a casting like anything else, there can be differences in how thick it is and that is what determines the difference in the diameter we machine it out to.
Either way 63 or 64mm, there is still the same percantage gain.
With regards to FPR units -we beleive they are necessary on the FTO vehicles due to the fact they run a MAP sensor and are not senstive to changes in air flow so the minuite you start modding the car and increasing air flow - the car does not recognise this and feeds teh same fuel supply hence the car starts to run lean and then loses power.
We found our extractors especially leaned the car out a lot hence why we recomend the FPR unit with any extractor upgrade.

How much for an FPR? Just supply, no installation?
