Hi ppl,
tonight some c#$t with what i suspect was a towbar reversed into my car while i was at the shops... no note left typically. Anyway, got a cracked front bumper just on the right side of the vent. Its quite obviously beyond repair.
My question is whether its possible to subsitute an aftermarket front bumper instead of the stock one when making an insurance claim. If so, any recommendations of where to get one? thanks!

Aftermarket replacement? That'd be nice... but the only people who can tell you for sure are your insurers!

Ask 'em first, then do some digging for suppliers if it's a goer.

PS. I opened my door into someone yesterday... quite hard. It was a multi-storey carpark with narrow spots, on a heavily sloping ramp. The door just totally got away from me. And I left a note. I've had three people so far tell me that wasn't smart! Stuff it... at least I can sleep at night!

Im probably king of "return to FTO with a chunk missing"... and after about 6 major hits and 4 little dings only 2 let me know they did it. Both were neighbours though, guy next door and guy accross the street.

oh this saturday my friend who works for Toyota needs a car to practice a technique they have of repairing those little side door dings you get from a run away door. apparently it works real well, no damage to paint and makes it come up straight. bonus!

There is a place called WA Bumper Exchange, its run by a dodgy looking guy, but he is really okay He will strip down a broken bumper, fix it and prime it ready for delivery to a body shop for painting.

When I decided to get my front bumper resprayed to get rid of stone chips etc he is the guy I took it to to prepare the bumper. He does a fanstastic job and it should only set you back about $100 give or take.

If he can't fix nthe bumper he will try and source a replacement (or he might even have a replacement in stock, he has a whole yard of second hand bumpers)

i was looking at just getting a replacement one, which means that the repairer will have to import one from japan most likely. Yeah, i know a guy at work who's dad welds plastic and could fix me up for $80-100 excluding the paint.
But it'd be nice if i could get a creative sports bumper or something instead, not too sure if insurance would agree with that though! I believe that the repairer has to do alot of paperwork for the insurance company to verify all the work they did.
Another option is to go all out and get a whole bodykit and respray. Anyone know of any places in perth that sells bodykits at a decent price? i'm aware of a place called UAS over east that sells veilside...
