I'd certainly be interested in hearing a price for your handy work..I'll way that up with buying a new battery (just bought one about six months ago)against the Unique system.
So you estimate only a few KW's at top end but more in the mid range area. Is that correct?...Unique are claiming around 6 KW's at top end i think......

Yeah, the torque curve looked like this:
As a rough guide, I'd guess this would be the acquisition work involved:
$15 - rubber adapter at throttle body (Engine Protection, Myaree)
$80 - Upper pipe (Genie to fabricate)
$10 - Upper centre pipe rubber adapter (Repco)
$8 - PCV spud plug thingy (Repco)
$?? - Upper rubber adapter at air box exit (I cut the end off my stock upper pipe, so free for me!)
$?? - Metal plate for air box remounting (not complicated! $20 maybe?)
$100 - Lower pipe (guess, not done this yet)
$10 - Lower centre pipe rubber adapter
-----
Total: Around about the $250 mark.
There should be cheaper rubber bits than the ripoff Repco (or silicon turbo hose) jobs! But I've listed the ones I used.

Looks like all the actions starts when MIVEC kicks in....Mid to upper range !
So with the new battery i'll be looking at around $500...After freight costs from the eastern states, guess thats about the same as the Unique.
Has anyone else bought the Unique system yet in WA?? maybe i should buy that one just so the club can atleast have a good look at one.
Thanks for the info Rich, i'll be in touch ! |
