my clutch has been slipping lately, and increasingly more often...
been looking around for replacements....
what have people from here bene using?
spoke to Rich before, and pointed me to some workshop, pretty good prices
but they have told me to go to just standard clutch...makes sense since they last 100,000kms rather than 10,000 kms...
which means i dun have to change mine every year...
and costing me an arm and a leg...
but a few other places have suggested sports clutch and others...
what are your opinions on this subject, and i am looking at getting this done by this week, if not next latest...
so far, standard clutch would be looking at around $550-$600
sports clutch $800
Exeddy clutch $900-$1200
dun know yet, please post any suggestions or reccomendations..thanks..

I payed nearly that for a pretty heavy clutch.
Give RPW a call. |

Get the standard clutch, unless you are running huge power or major track days it will last quite a while. _________________ I want my car back |

i end up getting the exedy ceramic sports clutch...
it bites like crazy! very good, however i am now faced with a shuddering problem during take off...
but seems to be ok when i am driving it fast and launching it quick, however when i am just cruising slowly, it shudders....while i can control it so i dun get the shuddering, there is a grinding noise if i accelerate a bit harder without clutching in....
anyone had similar problems? |

Sounds like a sports clutch to me!
I had to reverse Leigh's FTO out of his driveway, and with the clutch in that car I could hardly manouevre the damn thing around without stalling/bunny-hopping it all over the place. And the noise....!

haha, sounds exactly like the situation that i am stuck in atm...
bunny hopping, thats exactly it...lol
and also stalling it the odd couple of times...
your friend end up getting used to it?
maybe just need some time to get the hang of it...
so i dun hop everywhere at lights, and everyone looking at me funny...

| I'm used to it now, about 80% of my take offs from the lights are smooth without noise ro shudder, and most of the rest is only a tiny "erp" , i really only notice it going slowly like less then 10kmh like underground parking/ speed bumps where you have to stop/start constantly, etc, or starting on a steep uphill. |

i have taken the car down to RPW today, they took it for a test drive and told me that the clutch was normal, and that it is meant to be jumpy...
cause of the gripness nature of it!!! dun expect it to wear off untill its dead..
on that note, i am slowly getting the hang of it, and he told me that i will eventually get used to it and can drive it without the shuddering....but it will take a while...lol
also in the mean time, for the other issue regarding the gearbox..he also said he noted a bit of roughness in there, and could be a result of the wrong gearbox oil used while i had my clutched changed in the first place..
if the weight of the oil was heavier than what is recommended it might result in the roughness of it all, so i am planning to take the car back to the original mechanic to see what oil they have used, and then ring back to RPW and see if it was the problem. if so, will be scheduled to go back to get the oil changed...!!!
so that was what all the fuss was about...lol |

Excellent. Fingers crossed! I know that Mal C puts 'Aga fluid' in my gearbox, and it's always run like a charm.

i have got the gearbox oil changed over...
after 3L of it pumped out and changed...
the car is finally running like a dream, cannot believe how much a difference it had impacted during gear changes...
now it will allow me to change gears smoothly and is not as rough as it used to be...
anyone else with gear changing problems, get this changed immediately and u might save tons of money that other mechanics might charge u an arm and a leg for...(some even told me it was gear box problem and charged me $1000 - $1500 to check it out and fix it) while really only cost me $60 and only a 20min job at RPW...these guys are very good...and knows what they are talking about... |
