Hi,
Im about to replace the spark-plugs but getting a bit confused with the information thats been around these forums. Most ppl have said they replaced the back bank plugs with Platnium plugs & normal plugs for the front so they dont go through the hasstle of replacing tha back-plugs as often as the front ones. What have you guys done? Cant we just use the same type of plugs for the front & back, such as normal plugs? I know that Platnium-plugs lasts longer which is why most ppl use it for the back banks. The reason I ask is becos I was given a set of 6 normal plugs for free so I tho i'l just use these up first before upgrading to Platnium. 
any feedback would be great. |

Mitsubishi recommended using Platinum for the rear three plugs, as it's a real pain in the neck to get access to them. So they recommended using plugs that don't need changing so often.
The front three are easy to get to, so Mitsy suggested plugs that are changed more frequently.
If you use six 'normal' plugs, you just have to do the difficult rear replacement job more often.
If you use six platinum plugs, then the front three can be left alone for the duration. You then change all six at once when they are due.
That's all there is to it.
Me, I've got Platinums front and rear, and get them replaced when required (usually the next time access is easy due to other stuff being serviced, once the plugs have been in there 30,000km or more).

| just for interests sake, i have replaced my plugs twice with platinum ones in the last 40000k and now they need doing again. the car has started to run rough and miss and all we can put it down to is the plugs. As noted they are a pain to change. The car has only done 90000k and this will be the fourth (or more) set of platinums through it, so the suggestion they last 100000k is crap. and i have been running them front and rear also... |

What condition are the plugs in when they come out? You can tell an awful lot about how well the EFI system is working from looking at the plugs!
