| I had my 100k service done a few months ago minus the timing belt as my mechanic has been unable to source one. So I just had my next service today and his solution was 'Go on that FTO forum u use and see if they know where to get a tiing belt and seals' so um yeh, anyone? |

The genuine Mitsubishi one is expensive. There is one made by Gates that is much cheaper if you want to go non-genuine.
Apparently, Repco carry the Gates belt. Some posting somewhere had the part number listed as T987.
Me, I get the Mitsy one, as I thrash the nuts off that engine quite frequently.
Make sure your mechanic knows how to properly remove and refit that belt. Take a read of Mark A's bad experience:

He is really good, otherwise i wouldn't reccomend him.
He has done pretty much everything in my car....100k service, LSD, Clutch, flywheel and gearbox overhaul.
He is one of the Mitsubishi technicians, he does some jobs afterwork. |

| I dont know about this gates belt... My mechanic is a Repco repairer as well. Anyway in the end I ordered the belt and the seals ($233.60 all up) thru Mitsubishi and my mechanic is having it delivered to him and it will be ready and waiting for me on my next service. Will be glad when its all done, gonna do this and pay my insurance all at once just to get it all out of the way in one hit! |
