hey guys i'm am mega-new to this site and in all rights proabably souldnt be.... im a prelude owner not an FTO 
ive had my lude for about two years now but in the original days and FTO was my car of choice and i still must say i love them. the reason i am posting here is to get some opinions and facts on FTO's... ie; power-to-weight specs, drivability, common faults, expense to run etc.
you see i have poured $10k+ on mu car; VTEC converstion, intake, extractors, exhaust etc etc and because i chose THE WORST mechanic in VIC to do the engine swap i have forever been fixing his mistakes and i think its about time i cut my losses and get a new car.
one question i have, is MIVEC ver similar/different to VTEC? aggression, effectivness etc.
thanks heaps guys, i dont want to run into buying a car i know nothing about. |

wow i cant believe FTO's weigh in at so much! i thought the lude weighs as much as a boat but that too weighs in at aprox 1300kg. hmmmm im still tossing up; FTO or JDM Integra Vtir, hmmmmm 
i want more power but cant afford an s15 or supra... would i really be gaining anything from an FTO? the prelude comes standard with 143kw at the FW and with breather mods and vafc can usually hit 110-120 atw...
any more opinions guys? |

Sorry the fto is at 1200 kgs, my apologise.
Depends what you want out of a car. My friend has a auto prelude and it's extremely slow compared to my car.
A standard Fto Mivec or GR will chop a VTIR anyday.
Performance wise the GPX does 0-100 in 7.2 (standard), 1/4 in 15.5 and under.
I think the fto is a all-rounder, while the only comparison honda (type r) is more harsher. |

to be honest mate i just want a sporty reliable car with some looks and balls.... i simply cant afford insurance on forced induction so i am kinda limited.
impressive times tho for a stock car... how much difference in power would u expect to lose between tip-tronic and manual?
(the GPX is the model to go for yeah?) |

GPX is def the one to go for. it has the 150kw engine, so does the GPVR (Integra Type R (jap spec) version of mitsi) but the GPVR is much more expensive. The GR's are 130KW non mivec.
The tips aint bad but are still autos. I think the 0-100 is 8 and quartter is over 16.
Trust me the manuals are AWESOME. There was a review i read and the guy thought he was driving high performance supercar due to the gearbox and the sound of the mivec. |

insurance could be expensive depending on who you go with and how old ya are, and how many mods u tell them u have.... for me its around $1200/year with justcar (full compr.). when i had an accident and was my fault (road was wet and couldnt stop) the excess to pay was 1900 to get it fixed and hte other car fixed, they ordered new parts - bonnet, 2 headlights, radiator brackets, bumper, blinkers etc, from japan. insurance /year to pay after that was about $1260 i think, not sure why though if the no claim was gone
in comparision me other car - 1990 tp magna it costs about $200/year for third party
its worth it though... |

I got insurance @$900 full comp and im 20. My mum is the main driver and im 3rd in line. Excess is $200 + $200 for under 21.
That's a problem with any car, my friend bought a VT berlina and she is paying $1500 and that was the cheapest she could have got. |

Not to mention that the FTO is definitely more exotic. You'll see a Prelude at EVERY traffic light. |
