The GPX alternator is a pretty rare and special beast. It needs to have the correct pinouts on its connector, or the engine ECU won't get the extra info it needs. And if that's missing, the ECU won't permit proper MIVEC operation - revs will be limited around 6500rpm.
So if you've got a GPX, make damn sure you get a knowledgable person to do the job properly! If you source a replacement alternator, make 100% certain it's a GPX unit.

| Yea truE! Anyway i've already tow my car to the workshop for alternator reconditioning. Hard to find FTO parts nowadays! i reckoned it will still be good after that! hopefully. |

Make sure the garage tests the redline before handing the car back to you afterwards. They need to get the engine well warmed up (ie. 10-15 minutes driving), then try accelerating to redline. If it seems to bounce off the rev limiter at only 6500rpm, they've stuffed up.
In that case, the Engine ECU error code will flash the "Alternator FR terminal" error. For error code extraction, see here...

That will confirm that it's the alternator that is causing the rev restriction.
Hope that doesn't happen, and that the rebuild goes well...!

| My mechanic told me that he found a new alternator for me so i don't have to fix the old one. That cost me $580. You think thats reasonable? and the labour will cost me another 120 bucks. |

Yeah, I'd pay it. I'd cry a bit. But I'd cough it up, hehe. Seeing as it's an alternator that's effectively unique to one model of one car, it won't be a $140 Repco deal, that's for sure.
