Hi all.

I've got hold of a set of Mitsubishi CDs that have full, illustrated parts breakdowns for the FTO.

A couple of "howevers", though...

- They don't provide a direct link to the files, as they don't have a lot of server capacity. But email them, and they should be happy to give you the link.

- They only want you to download one file at a time, to avoid blowing up their server.

- The files aren't small!

- While most of it is in English, the little descriptive comments under the (very clear) illustrations are in Japanese. But it's not a problem if you know generally what you're looking for.

It's a 5-disk set, but I've not actually needed more than the first 2 CDs to browse all the parts.

If anyone needs to know FTO part numbers, you know who to ask! Smile

Further note...

It looks like the flood of us FTO owners requesting the CAPS download from Team3S has prompted them to politely suggest "alternative means" of distribution! Smile

I don't think their server (or nerves) can take the strain of FTO enthusiasts beating a path to their door no more, hehe.

So don't go emailing them about it, basically! But watch JCars forum or the Smartgroups FTOList to see if someone is going to host the files themselves...

whats the part number and brand of the fuel injectors.. Also, if it has it listed, how many of them are there what cc is their flow? Smile

It looks like there were two different types of fuel injectors used, with the changeover occurring in early '96. But I'm sure they are basically equivalent.

From 9409.1 to 9601.3, original injector part number is MD317107.

"Replacement" part number is MD319790.

From 9602.1 on, it lists just the latter MD319790 part number.

It doesn't go into specs, but there was a post on the UK FTOOC forum from one of the old hands who'd looked into the flow rates. Apparently, these injectors are 166cc/min ea.

There is apparently some neat calculation you can perform that gives a rough guide to bhp possible from a powerplant running X injectors at Y cc/minute. When running 166cc/min times 6 through it, the end "finger in the wind" ballpark was around 202bhp.

This may well explain why it's famously hard work getting any real performance gain out of an FTO. It would also explain why cheap, cheerful, lowtech solutions like fooling with the regulated fuel pressure might actually work... It just squeezes a little extra through them.

Hmm. Perhaps we should pool our resources and come up with a viable alternative solution to this fuelling issue, hehe. I'll have a chat to my mate the EFI expert and get some accurate information together on the issues involved. Smile

I sense a larger injector/rrfpr combo available in RPW soon, haha!

RPW already has larger injector kits for the FTO and as people know we already have FPR units as well.

Of course we did find with the extractors the cars did run lean and needed the FPR unit to richen up again.
