Currently
---------
Age: 24
Insurer: HBF
No Claims: 60% with protection
Price: $850/year ex gst
When I first got my FTO I was 21 and got charged $1495/year with 60% no claims (SGIO). It went down the year after to $1195. Last year SGIO tried to jack up my insurance costs to $2250 a year so I switched to HBF |

Thats the best you could expect for your age.. Elect to pay monthly, you will be charged a bit more for the year, but at least you won't have to fork out 2600 straight out.

For me:
Age: 25
Insurer: SGIO (through Phoenix Insurance Brokers)
No Claim: 60%
Price: $1000/yr
Similar story to Mark. I was with SGIO previously ($1300 / 60%ncb). They then tried to rob me by charging $2000/yr. Went to Phoenix insurance brokers and they got me a better deal .. with SGIO funnily enough.
Good luck trying to find insurance. |

1 small rear ender mid 2000. (Not in my FTO, in my old car) I had no claims protection by that time though so I didn't lose any.
Other than that, i have made no other claims |

Mine was pretty clean until this year.
Scratched and dented panel just behind the drivers door. Got ncb protection though. |

SGIO told me they would not insure my FTO because it was an import, so unless they do yours because you are old customers and they have changed the rules or maybe they do not have your car insured properly, worth checking incase you have an accident and they think you own a lancer or something....
Anyway
For me:
Age: 24
Insurer: Elders (through IPS Insurance Brokers)
No Claim: 0%
Price: $1700/yr
First time we insured any of our cars. Missus is 22 also. Both got pretty average records.
Fot quoted upto 2500 for comprehensive. |

I just rang SGIO yesterday, quoted $1500.
Do they always give you a lower price and then jack the price up the following year.
Mark, you wrote you paid HBF $850 per year, and then later on you quoted that you pay $2500. Is the later price because you were younger than 24yrs and then it decrease to $850 when you turned 24. |

Nope, Sorry i may have phrased that wrong, here is the sequence of events.
1. Was paying about $1250 at SGIO
2. Renewal from SGIO came and they wanted $2250
3. I managed to bargain them down to $1600.
4. I called HBF and they would insure me for $850, So i switched from SGIO to HBF
I never ended up renewing with SGIO.

Hello
I was wondering why no one has mentioned Torque (Lumley Insurers)?
We've currently got a cover note with them, is that a good or bad thing?
The premium quote we got was approx $700.
