Hi all.
I have just this minute booked a morning session on 19/10/03 at MC's for the FTO Drivers Club!
I will do a mass mailout tonight, as well as updating the website 'Events' page.
Just thought I would post up the news!

Great!
I'm always wary of choosing dates that clash with Big Stuff (car shows, Formula Ford, really good repeats of A Country Practice)... but with the MC days you're often limited to what dates are still free in their booking calendar.
Fingers crossed this one is free and clear, and that we get a good FTO turnout!

Looks like this might be quite a bit of fun.
I've never done anything like this before, is it something that's generally attended by those with prior skills or more modded cars? Basically, would it be kind of strange if I rocked up in my stock tiptronic FTO?
If it's suited to people who are completely clueless, count me in! |

Hi Uisce - Paul W, isn't it?
> Looks like this might be quite a bit of fun.
Oh, yes! A truckload of fun. I also found it totally addictive.

Nope, come as you are! This is driver training in a "motorkhana" style setting. The instructors are great, and will work one-on-one with you throughout the morning. You can take it as seriously as you like, or just have a bit of a blast around in a controlled environment. It's a great format.

Not in the slightest!!! In fact, I reckon the most efficient use of dollars when chasing "fast times" is to train yourself, rather than throw money at the car. Plus, you can carry the results with you to any other car, hehe.
...and the FTO is a great motorkhana vehicle, believe me. It will have a ball out there, and so will you!
I'll put you down then!

I talked to Malcolm Crockenberg this morning. He's now confirmed as a driver at the MC training day. Great stuff...

Yes! Unless his wife has another birthday that clashes with this next meet as well, hehe.

Hey I rock up with a stock FTO with a tip box. You don't need a beast of a car to have fun out there.
Come to think of it.. I think I've seen someone out there in a Corolla hire car.
Rich is right... the more track time you get the better your times will be.
Hope to see you there. |

Okay, we've just hit our max target for the driver training day... 15 drivers booked!
If anyone's still interested, be sure and let me know, as there may be people who are unable to attend and drop out as the date approaches. I will be happy to manage a waiting list, and will get people in on a first-come, first-served policy.
Thanks for the fantastic response! If this gets much more popular, we'll have to book a morning and an arvo session back-to-back, and have a full day FTO event!

Due to some unforseen expenses I'm gonna have to withdraw from this... I really can't spare $100 right now. Sorry guys & gals. |

Okay Paul... sorry to hear it! Coming up anyway... to watch, chat and socialise?
I should note that we now have 12 drivers confirmed, so that means 3 spots free. If you were thinking about it, or planning on coming up for a look, why not take the plunge and sign up?
