Hey guys its been awhile since i last posted abt buyin a FTO...(fto comparison thread) but yeah finally!!! the financial crap are in its final stages should be something like today tm or something...anyways..like the topic says...I NEED HELP!! Crying or Very sad

I've been wondering about which car I should go for...as most of you should know the new laws have really hit the import market hard and there arent many "good" cars around nowadays....for sale that is. I've been looking around lately at all cars around 20k range but i truly only want the FTO or 180sx..

I have my eye on one of each atm...first up..

1996 180sx(typeX)
62ks on the clock.
Stock standard series 2 180 with nothing modded but the 17" rims on them.
Its silver and its SUPER clean when i say super i mean its like brand new!! in and out! Very Happy

asking price is 19999 but i kinda nego. abit already down to 18500....and they claim theres another buyer whos really interested in it and will buy it anyday now...(my parents think they are lying to me..but...i duno.)

the FTO!
1996 FTO GR
41ks on the clock.
It has stock rims,
SeXi as can be bodykit,
I think 3" or maybe 3.5" exhaust,
Its white and its SUPER clean as well ^^ but the asking price is too much 23500 Sad Confused and this guy is very hard to bargain with so...i duno..but i like the looks of it that kit is sweet as!

anyways if anyone found any other good FTOs or 180s plz let me know but yeah in comparison which would be better FTO or 180 to buy? Plz be unbias(kinda hard FTO forum...hehe) and fair and plz back up ur reasons or pros or cons thanks.

how about a comparison from some1 that doesnt own a FTO nor wants 1.. and who posts on a FTO forum all the time.. (hehe ME)

180SX
Pros:
2L turbo engine
easy to mod
looks nice.. (love pop up headlights)
Series 2 skyline style rear lights.. Smile

Cons:
You will get screwed on insurance
EVERY1 has a 180 and 90% now are modded.. so its hard to stand out
SR20's Break easy.. just ask a few of the S13 guys who thrash there cars
you will also have the extra troubles of turbos

FTO
Pros:
Looks sweet
something different to the normal car out there.
attracts a lot more attention compared to most import cars nowdays
a GPX revs to 8K RPM!! and they sound MINT in that range!!
insurance wont be soooo bad coz its NA

Cons:
fairly hard to mod for huge amounts of power coz they are NA
not many people know how to fix them.. (whats a FTO??)

thats about all I can think of atm

on another side note.. a 96 GR for 23k!! that guy is on drugs.. you should be able to get a 95 GPX for 20k no probs that is in nice condition... and dont strss about kms too much... as I would guess 60% of import cars have false km readings.. (do not take this as gospel but it does happen!!)

hope that helps a bit.. Smile

cheers

Have a look at www.autotrader.com.au, there are a few FTOs in WA.

I think the one you talked about is there as well, white FTO asking for $23,500 from Extreme Machines.

I know the silver FTO "NV 1717" is located in Booragoon and I've seen the yellow one "MJR 1" around Applecross/Attadale. That is pretty rare in Perth and it has S-AFC and bucket seat apparently.

There is also a facelift 1996 FTO, you'll notice the foglight is different. It is located at Cannington Auto House asking for $21,990.

Honestly you'll be better off getting either the Yellow FTO or the facelift model. It's rare and will definitely stand out from the rest.

Hope that helps.

Cheers

Yes thanks for replying and yeah those are the exact same pros and cons i have....and the same ones thats been driving me NUTS!? should i go for looks..or performance....hmm hmm Question

I've had a variety of response from my friends but majority went for looks so yeah...and my dad doesnt like the 180 he luvs the FTO...bleh

Oh as for the guy whos selling the white FTO well...its extreme machines in augusta st willetton i think? or riverton not sure..but yeah its been sitting there for the last 6months or so! AND it hasnt even changed in price...not even a lil!

And yeah the prices for most FTOs vary quite abit but most are under 20k and in good condition but the Ks on some really put me off like I saw this real sweet YELLOW!! (i luv yellow Very Happy ) FTO with nice rims and a kewl "lip" like rear spoiler but...120ks is really too much...asking price was 18900 i think. I called the guy up to find the Ks.

Another problem with the FTO atm is the wans available atm are either red or burgundy or silver (all of which i dunt want..) sigh..
