Hi Jay.
You can... it's been done. But it's not cheap horsepower for dollars spent, and the GPX engine is not the most suitable candidate for turbocharging. I've heard the opinion that the high-rpm MIVEC cams are open for so long that forced induction is really going against the FTO's NA engine design. But I'm not an automotive engine expert, so bear that in mind!!
Some of the blokes over East have done it, or have acquired turbocharged examples. But the really insanely grunty FTOs seem to be ones with the full-on engine swaps (6A13 twin turbo, changed to single turbo, or an EVO engine). But you'll need a ton of patience and deep pockets!
Now, if you want to stretch the legs of your FTO and see what it does really well, why not come along to the driver training session mentioned in the 'Events' section of the forum? Me and at least one other FTO owner are booked in, and it should be good fun.
Give me a shout if you want any additional info!
- Rich

I contacted RPW here in Perth and they charge $8000 for an FTO turbo kit.
However, i don't know what is included in the kit. VERY sure an intercooler is included in the price. |
