Hey every1

I recently bought a FTO and there's a slight problem with the transmission.. the car is tiptronic..

For example, as i'm driving and it moves thru the gears (this only happens occasionly) its gets stuck in 3rd and the neutral icon flashes.. Confused

And to correct the problem i would have to turn off/on the car.. this will go on 3-4 times in a row and the problem will just go away...

Is it cause the transmission fluid is low?? or is it something more serious??

can any1 help a gal out?? Rolling Eyes

Yeah u might want to check the oil, Mine did that when a hose to the transmission was leaking. It got stuck in 3rd, with neutral flashing and was smoking like crazy. If u look under where ur car has been parked and there is a pool of reddish oil then thats probably it.

If its the same thing its just like a $10 hose and oil, nothing major. But there is a few other places it can leak from. Id get it looked at ASAP if I were u cuz its not good to be driving it if ya leaking oil and run out mid tri[.

Maybe something is getting blocked and stopping the oil from getting through? Its a very similar result to what I had so its weird. I have all my work done at Autofix in Kelmscott, theyre great!

There is a very detailed 'sticky' posting up at the UK FTO Owners club forum.

Go to http://www.ftooc.org/contents/, select 'Forum', then find the Gearbox section.

One of the top posts is entitled: Sticky: Tiptronic Flashing "N"

Check it out.

Also, under their 'General' section, there is a similarly excellent summary called: Sticky: Error codes and their diagnosis

These both go further than the "how to extract the codes" article on our site.

Hope this helps.

Incidentally, the FTO's INVECS-II tiptronic gearbox is no longer a mystery for Mitsubishi dealerships... Magnas have had this type of gearbox for years now. You shouldn't be faced with blank looks if you take it to a competent dealership and ask for an opinion. Of course, dealer service centres ain't usually known for being cost-effective, hehe.

Hi guys, today i encountered a problem but i am still at a lost whether is it a potential hazard to my FTO
Anyone has any idea what does the indicator on the right side of the panel just above the 'doors not closed' icon??
the indicator will blink whenever i apply pressure to my brake or even if it goes through a small bum on the road
anyway it looks something like a container with fluid in it and there is a small opening at the top
please enlighten me!!
thanks Crying or Very sad

Ah, now that's an easy one!!!!

It's your windscreen washer fluid level. It's low.

Also called the "G-Force Meter", as it shows when you brake/corner. Wink
