Ok so I had my timing belt and plugs etc etc all done about 3 weeks ago and then a week after that the car broke down (across the road from my house -perfect sine theres a median strip all the way so I couldnt get home until RAC came 1.5hrs later)...
It started to lose power in automatic so I popped it into tiptronic and it managed ok still little power and eventually it just stalled out and wouldnt start again right away . Next day it was fine which made it hard for my mechanic to fix whatever is wrong. RAC said it may possibly be those leads that plug into the engine wearing out and causing it to misfire and stall. My mechanic changed the fuel filter and that was it as he could not find anything else. Its been fine another two weeks and then today it has done the same thing but it didnt stall out on me as I was nearly home and now Im too chicken to drive anywhere incase I get stuck.
Any suggestions? |

Sounds very dodgy! If it were mine, it would be "straight to Mal Crockenberg"... do not pass Go, etc.
Alternatively, if it's closer, there's an EFI specialist in Myaree. Graham Ellis, at "Auto Petrol Injection Service". 9317 1065. He's a totally no BS guy, and is very good at air+spark+fuel stuff. He might still have a diagnostic unit that could grab error codes and such from an FTO. It was a loan unit, and we tried it out on mine. Talked to the ECU just fine.
You could do the error code thingumy yourself, and see if the engine ECU has anything to say...

PS. You could be losing power because of all the girls hanging off the car. High coefficient of drag and all that...
