The fanbelt can be tightened by adjusting a 'largish' bolt situated a couple of inches 'behind' the dipstick housing.
You can easily see it from under the bonnet as the bolt head sticks up. You should be just be able to twist the fan belt 90 degrees, any more and its too loose and less and its too tight.
taken from the website funky fto
so this means that there should be extra room to tur n 90degrees after its final position? so, to my understanding, tighten it up to max tension then loosen it 90 degrees? is this correct? |

That '90 degrees' thing is talking about grabbing the belt at a certain point and giving it a 90-degree twist. Not the bolt, the belt.

Be very careful about things like belt tension. With an 8000rpm redline, you really have to get it exactly right. If not, either the belt will slip, or it will stress one or more component.
Also, if your FTO starts squeaking when it's first run on colder, wet mornings, it probably means your drivebelts have simply dried out. Don't immediately rush to tighten the belts.
Mine get lubricated a couple of times a year with some spray stuff Mal C has. It keeps them in good nick, and avoids that old "squeaky fan-belt" sound!
